If you’re getting married soon, (or just bookmarking some inspo), you’ve probably seen the viral TikTok wedding trends. From choreographed first dances, to perfectly executed videography, TikTok has become the blueprint for modern couples who want their big day to feel personal, fun and a little bit iconic. Weddings are evolving, viral TikTok moments aren’t just about going viral, they’re about capturing raw emotions into every moment.  In this feature we’re breaking down our favourite wedding TikTok trends that can help capture those forever moments and maybe go viral too…

“Put these on and pose”

One of our favourite trends has to be the “put these on and pose” TikTok videos. This is when the couple and their guests wear heart glasses with their initials and the date of their wedding and, well, pose. Add each photo to the video and add music over the top. (The trend has Kid Cudi’s Day n Night). It’s probably the easiest trend and it captures moments for the couple to look back on during the night.

The couple can keep the glasses afterwards as a keepsake and a cool memory from their special day, a moment that all their guests have shared. It’s almost like a digital guestbook.

“And the wedding is tomorrow”

If you’re an ABBA fan, there are tons of trending sounds from the film Mamma Mia! that the bride and groom could use for their viral TikTok moment. One of our favourites is the transition trend when the bride and their bridesmaids start in their matching pyjamas and then cut the camera to them all in their dresses the next day.

Or another ABBA classic, to the song Voulez-Vous, the bride and her party start in their matching robes and then in a clean sweep transition into their dresses.

These are cute moments that the bridal party can take together before and finish on the big day. They’re also easy to recreate and doesn’t take much videography skills to do! Plus, who doesn’t love a little bit of ABBA, right?

Swifty

Okay, yes, admin is a Swifty but there are so many viral trends to do as bride-to-be using Taylor Swift music.

One of our favourites from earlier this year is ‘Who’s afraid of little old me?’ Set to the lyric of ‘So tell me everything’s not about me…but what if it is?’ The best kind of reveal of the bride’s wedding dress, first shielded by the bridesmaids and bridal party, lip syncing the first part of the lyrics, to then moving out the way to reveal the bride, finishing the lyrics and showing her gown. Iconic.

If you’re more in your Fearless era, a cute trend where the bride and her party start off together taking a group selfie and then swiping down in front of the camera to transition into their bridesmaid dresses and gown. It’ a cute moment to capture together, set to Taylor Swift’s Fearless.

Wicked: Galinda

If you're a die-hard Wicked fan, this is one TikTok you'll absolutely want to schedule into your wedding morning. From the iconic scene in Wicked Part One, where Galinda attempted to transform her outfit into a "pretty frock", this trend reimagines the magic with a bridesmaid playfully enchanting the bride into her wedding look.

It's theatrical and perfect for musical lovers who want to weave a little West End magic into their big day. And if you're feeling extra? Buy the wand. Because when else will you ever get the chance?!

“What are you wearing tomorrow?”

This one is super cute. The bride and a friend of hers in the wedding party are having a conversation the night before the wedding. The video starts out by the bride asking, “what are you wearing tomorrow?” and then her friend replies with the colour of her dress and asks if she wants to match, the bride then says she can’t because she’s wearing white, after this it the transitions to the next day of them both standing in their dresses.

This is a really easy trend to capture a moment of the bride and her bestie before the big day. We’ve seen other people do the trend with graduation too, but we think doing it for your wedding day is just adorable.

Outfit reveals

An oldie but a goldie. We have seen so many sweet moments of the bride revealing her dress to her family, her father and the groomsmen before the groom sees her for the first time, walking down the aisle. This is less of a ‘viral trend’ and more of an intimate moment that you can keep forever.

Everyone loves an emotional moment captured on film, so if you choose to upload your moment to TikTok, it’s sure to pull at people’s heart strings, but if you want to keep it for yourselves, you have a cute, intimate moment of you and your party seeing your beautiful gown, before anyone else.

‘Best woman and Man of Honour’

This is less about a viral trend to mark the day and more about a moment that has been circling the internet for a sweet moment captured at a wedding that went viral.

A bride and groom decided to swich up traditional wedding norms and in addition to their bridal party, they had a ‘best woman’ who stood with their groomsmen and wore a black dress to match the grooms’ party; and then the bridal party had a ‘man of honour’ who wore a pink suit to match the bridesmaids.

We think this is a sweet moment that captures friendships and ended up going viral on TikTok in 2023 with 11 million likes. This moment shows that the moments that go viral are usually the raw, personal moments that no one else gets to see.

The Office

The Office is known for the viral meme moments and the ‘look to the invisible camera’ when something… odd happens. So, why not make your own ‘The Office’ inspired wedding video?

Couples are now filming their wedding video in the style of The Office, with cut to camera moments, conference room cutaways and funny moments captured by the videographer. A full 180 to the traditional wedding videos we saw our parents have, and a nod to one of the funniest tv shows of our generation.

Twas the night before

Remember the Christmas film, ‘Twas the night before Christmas?’ Well brides are using the trending sound to show them in bed the night before their wedding day, with their dress, shoes and accessories laid out on top of the sheets.

It’s a cute trend that went viral last year for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and brides have latched on to the idea to post on TikTok. Personally, we love it, and no, not just because of the Eras Tour, but because it’s an easy trend to do with the bride and the bridesmaids and have a viral moment before the big day.

Our final thoughts

At the end of the day, TikTok isn’t just about inspiring wedding trends to make the next viral video, it’s about shaping how we celebrate love, how we celebrate our special day. From tiny details to full-on production level, choreographed moments, couples are using the platform to highlight their day and make it uniquely them. And we think it’s pretty iconic.

Whether the trends stick around or are just a trending sound, we know one thing for sure, TikTok has made weddings more creative, and more personal for the happy couple and easy to document those special moments that once may only be a memory.
